On 28 October 28, 2023, 23 Junior drivers competed for the 2023 Junior Sedans Piston Cup at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.
A big thank you to RGM Maintenance Group for sponsoring the event, providing trophies and medallions for both Top and New Stars. Thanks, must also be given to Bursons Rockhampton for providing gift vouchers for each driver. Without our local sponsors, the Club would not exist. We are very appreciative of your continued support.
The event was supported by over 50 cars from our senior classes including AMCA Nationals, Modified Sedans, Production Sedans, Street Stocks and Super Stockers.
The inaugural Juniors Sedans Piston Cup was held in April 2017 at the Rockhampton Showgrounds (Easter weekend).
20 Juniors competed for the Cup, including Dakota Laverty and Jack Cameron. Added fun fact: Dakota competed in Production Sedans at the 28 October 2023 meeting and Jack went passenger in a Super Stocker.
It just goes to show that Juniors are the future of motorsport and the developmental skills they learn as a Junior driver, help them in the senior classes.
What made the event even more special was the introduction of Victory Lane, sponsored by Advanced Exhausts Rockhampton. Victory Lane is an opportunity to showcase Rockhampton’s heat and feature winners.

The 2022-23 Race season’s second round featured the SSA Junior Sedans Piston Cup which saw some close and exciting racing from not just the Junior Top Stars and New Stars but also all of the support divisions that appeared.
